I’m excited about the progress made in FY 2016 to strengthen the member experience, value, and impact. ULI has always had its greatest impact when it uses its position as the leading voice on best practices to convene its members and empower them to improve the communities in which we live.
As the Urban Land Institute’s global chairman, I am proud to lead an organization whose leadership in land use is resulting in the creation of thriving communities worldwide. The impact that ULI is making through our highly engaged membership is evident in this annual report.
During fiscal year 2016, the Institute’s global leadership took important steps to maintain ULI’s momentum by realigning the organization to better meet the needs of members. This effort will support continued global growth while getting the organization closer to members locally. It will improve the effectiveness of the Institute in each of the regions where it has a presence—the Americas, Europe, and the Asia Pacific region—and it is designed to enhance members’ ability to learn from each other and improve the business of city building.
What you’ll find in this annual report are examples of how our members are reacting to several forces of change, including demographic shifts, new economic drivers, environmental concerns, and rapid advancements in technology. All of this is affecting the built environment, making ULI’s expertise more necessary than ever.
By improving how ULI connects with members, we are providing more opportunities for involvement and leadership. The Institute’s programs and research are now better matched to issues affecting members’ businesses and communities. New communications tools are enhancing ULI’s longtime tradition of knowledge sharing, making it easier to show how innovative work in one market can influence what is built in markets around the globe.
I’m excited about the progress made in FY 2016 to strengthen the member experience, value, and impact. ULI has always had its greatest impact when it uses its position as the leading voice on best practices to convene its members and empower them to improve the communities in which we live. ULI is well positioned for even greater success in the years ahead.
